I'm an Adult Now
I'M AN ADULT NOW
My parents used to tell me,
"When you're an adult you can do as you please, but as a child you have to obey me."
Well, I'm an adult now - and I will do as I please.
"When you're an adult you can do as you please,

Well, I'm an adult now - and I will do as I please.
Many parents have said this to secure obedience from their children.
This is what my mother said to me.
This is not the best approach to managing a child's behavior.
The biggest downfall is that this opens the child up to massive failure as an adult -
if they think they are free from rule upon adulthood.
First, our country is filled with laws of what we must do and what we cannot do.
Every employer has employee manuals that must be followed.
Second, life is filled with many rules that aren't written down.
Every middle grader knows that.
Every homeless street person knows it.
Every married person knows it.
Even if someone doesn't want to work, their stomach demands they do something to fill it
and their skin demands they find shelter to protect their body.
Third, God exists and demands certain things from all adults:
New Testament, Matthew 22
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together.
35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’
38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
It is so ironic - that so many former church kids - are so diligent to teach their children so many things - required to be successful in life, but sadly - intentionally refuse to teach them about the sovereignty of God. The same God we will all answer to Someday.
And the knowledge of God is the most important thing we need to know.
And how terrible will these people will feel - when they see their children judged as non-believers.
