"Hush, little Baby"

"I was molested at church, but no one would listen, not even my parents."

An old nursery rhyme:
"Hush little Baby, don't say a word
Mama's going to buy you a mockingbird."
....(more verses)
This song is about a mother trying to quiet an unhappy baby with bribes.
.
This song also reminds me of families that encounter child abuse,
but the adult perpetrator often gets more support from the community than the victim.
This is nothing less than horrible.
As you read in 'Mesirah', some organizations are more concerned with the adults in the organization
than with the children being damaged.
.
Perhaps they use the playbook from Epstein's Island.
Or was Mesirah the playbook used in Epstein's Island?
.
Why are parents so afraid of exposing bad leaders, especially when they are church leaders?
Consider Paul's directives in 2 Timothy 4:
"14 Alexander the metalworker did me a great deal of harm. The Lord will repay him for what he has done.
15 You too should be on your guard against him, because he strongly opposed our message."

Now, in light of the way Paul advertised the misdeeds of Alexander,
how do you think Paul would react to a child molester in the church today?

Paul, to protégé Timothy in 1 Timothy 5:
"19 Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses.
20 But those elders who are sinning you are to reprove before everyone, so that the others may take warning.
21 I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels,
to keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism."

I will happily and publicly disagree that any notion that an incident of childhood sexual abuse should be managed privately,
discreetly, 'through the channels.'
.
Nope. Hang them out to dry, in full view of everyone, after receiving sufficient proof the accusations of abuse are valid.
Like Paul did with Alexander the metalworker. Child molesters at least belong in prison, each and every one of them.
The Old Testament punishment for any kind of sex outside of heterosexual marriage was...death by public stoning.
.
As a Sunday School teacher, I became aware that one of my students was being molested by an older boy in her neighborhood.
I reported it to the Sunday School Superintendent, who reported it to the Children's Ministry Pastor, who went to the police.
In order to prevent revictimization, these perverts need to be held accountable.

Had I witnessed another teacher molest a student, the right thing to do would have been to call the police directly.
.
A victim or victim's parent should never think that she or he will be the last victim this pervert will ever assault
if accountability is withheld. And the punishment the perpetraitor receives is never the fault of the victim. (misspelling - intentional)
.
I once read of a girl who was the oldest of five sisters.
Her dad began molesting her before she got her figure.
He preferred his victims to be pre-puberty.
When that oldest sister started to get her figure, the dad left her alone,
and started harming the next younger sister.
And so it continued.
The oldest sister became a drug addict, partly out of a sense of guilt.
Guilt, because she knew her dad was raping her little sisters, one-at-a-time,
and she did nothing to stop it.

Speak up.
.
There is more than one person in your life with ears to hear.
If no one seems to want to hear, call the local office of your State Patrol.
Talk to someone there.
And understand that Paul, the Apostle would have listened to you,
and he would have reacted properly.
