"I don't like being around all those people. I get enough of that at work and school."
Okay. This is why some young people de-church.
Some people are simply introverts and just aren’t cut from the same cloth as one or both of their parents.
A busy church life is difficult for introverts. But to shut out everyone is also a problem.
We each have an obligation to support the organizations that support our lives.
Find a way to attend church serve that doesn’t overburden you on interaction.
Some people are simply introverts and just aren’t cut from the same cloth as one or both of their parents.
They are quiet people and often don’t want to
be seen as friendly, or even approachable.
I have several introverts in my extended-family, and even family reunions are a stretch for them.
I seem to be an 'ambivert', a little of each type, always in a tug-of-war with myself.
A busy church life is difficult for introverts. But to shut out everyone is also a problem.
We each have an obligation to support the organizations that support our lives.
Let’s
step back and see how introverts need others.
Every introvert that owns a cellphone or TV, or eats fast food, or drive a car or rides a bus
Every introvert that owns a cellphone or TV, or eats fast food, or drive a car or rides a bus
needs countless other people to stand
elbow-to-elbow with others on an assembly line somewhere,
working to provide the
stuff they want at a reasonable price.
I used to be a meat
cutter on an assembly line and was poked in the elbow twice with a knife by the
guy next to me,
for a family in Japan, where the meat was sold,
simply because of how close we had to stand to each other on the cutting line....
Solution ?
Find a way to attend church serve that doesn’t overburden you on interaction.
There are people who are 'the last in and the first out.'
Some of them are introverts, avoiding personal contact.
As for serving?
Setting up for
Sunday school is one of the loneliest jobs in any church, as is snow
removal.
Sound checks before
services involve just a handful of people.
Parking lot
directing during services involve a lot of people, but they are at a
distance.
There are ways to be
part of the church without having to greet a hundred people each week.
.
And introverts may wonder how they will do in Heaven being around all those people.
Both Heaven and Hell will hold a lot of people.
As said in 1John 3, we will each be transformed into the image of Christ,
so we can conclude that introverts will be comfortable around people in Heaven.
